Fault Line

Oh-

Mine is a troubled soul.

I come and I go,

I take and I stow my wisdom away

To feel like I know anything.

I’ve got the vaguest of notions

I’m feeling a quake in the oceans

And I’m just a tree on a fault line

Bent by the breeze and these faults of mine

So I fall to the sea, to the salty brine

And oh-

Down I go.

Sweet-

I’m sweet as a honeybee.

Sugar on my hands, a sword behind my back.

I take and I keep

Everything restless and free.

I’ve got the vaguest of notions

I’m feeling a quake in the oceans

And I’m just a tree on a fault line

Bent by the breeze and these faults of mine

So I fall to the sea, to the salty brine

And oh-

Down I go.

Slowly I crumble, through

cracks in foundations, not

built for what’s rippling out.

Quickly I tumble, to

find my salvation’s made

peace with this crippling doubt.

And I’ve got the vaguest of notions

I’m feeling a quake in the oceans

And I’m just a tree on a fault line

Looking to find what’s below-

So down I go-

Down I go-
